Apple Crumble

T has had a craving for apple crisp since sometime 2 weeks ago when he listened to a podcast that featured apples.  So I made up a very basic crumble recipe and baked it last night.  The apartment smelled like autumn!

About 5-6 apples–I used Granny Smith, Braeburn, and Pink Lady apples, peeled and chopped into small pieces

1/4 cup of sugar

2-3 Tbsp of cinnamon

1/2 cup of flour

1 cup of oats (I used quick cook because it’s what we had on hand)

1 Tbsp maple sugar

1 stick of butter, at room temperature

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the chopped apples, sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl and mix well.  Combine the remaining ingredients (except butter) and mix well.  Mix in the butter, by hand, making clumps of the oatmeal mixture. Pour apples into a baking dish (I greased mine with butter, but I’m sure cooking spray would do too), and top with oatmeal mixture.  Bake for 50 minutes or until top is lightly browned and inside is bubbly. Serve warm 🙂

So hard to not dig in while it was cooling…
